PROGRAMS

Not on Tobacco (N-O-T) - The American Lung Association (ALA) now offers a comprehensive, gender-sensitive program designed to help teens quit smoking or reduce the amount they smoke. Called Not on Tobacco, the program teaches healthy lifestyle behaviors and life skills, such as stress management and decision-making. This program is active in Western Racine County.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

American Lung Association of Wisconsin - ALA  fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health.

The Truth - The Truth.com is known for their controversial television ad campaign.  The web site has information on smoking aimed at teens (It is strongly suggested that you have your child accompany you to this site to help you understand the youth-oriented messages -- the content was designed by youth for youth).

TobaccoFree.org - Messages for parents, messages for youth.  This site is a project of Patrick Reynolds, the grandson of R.J. Reynolds (Winston, Camel). He turned his back on the family business in 1986 after losing his father and oldest brother to tobacco-related deaths.

The PATCH Project - The Program Against Teen Chewing's  goal is to help adolescent males quit using spit tobacco (snuff or chewing tobacco). This site provides information on how to quit using spit tobacco as well as the potential dangers of spit tobacco.
